Palermo - When Spice Was Worth More Than Gold
The "Palermo" set brings together five aluminium spice containers in graduated sizes, nested into one compact tower: light, opaque and made to stay within reach on the kitchen counter.
Palermo was one of the great crossroads of the Mediterranean. Spices came ashore here and travelled on into Europe, where in the Middle Ages they were among the most valuable goods of all. Pepper, ginger, cinnamon, clove and saffron were traded as luxury and kept as status, stored in fine jars rather than hidden away. The street markets of the city still carry that inheritance today.
The "Palermo" set continues that idea in a plain, modern form. Five containers, one set.
