Coffee pots were the primary method of brewing coffee in ancient Europe. The grounds were placed inside, and water was heated to the point of boiling. Their sharp spouts aided in filtering out the coffee grounds, while their flat bottoms allowed for adequate heat absorption. However, as coffee pots evolved, so did filtering techniques.

It quickly gained widespread popularity, and coffee shops sprang up across Europe, beginning in Italy. In the same manner as coffee shops today, these establishments served as social gathering spots.
